Finley's Growing: 10 Months

At 10 Months Finley is:

*Constantly making random strangers smile
*Crawling as fast as lightning

*Pulling herself up, scaling, and standing independently every once and a while
*Eating finger foods with the family (loves pasta, carrots and Clementines!)

*Dancing and 'singing' with Logan all the time
* Weighing in at 19 pounds

*Still drinking three bottles (8oz.) per day and eagerly learning to drink from a sippy cup
*Surviving teething and currently has four - two on top, and two on bottom.

*Constantly looking up to her brother with the most amazingly eager smile (she's gonna give him a run for his money, that's for sure!)
*Finally, beginning to sleep through the night.  It's been a tough road with all the inconsistencies of moving, reflux, remodeling, and just being a second child!

It's hard to believe that our little lady will be a YEAR in just two months!  Why do I still see her as my sweet and tiny little newborn?
Hmm...I'm guessing some things may just never change :)

Quotes to Remember: 008

"Mom, I don't think I'm going to marry you anymore...
I'm probably just going to marry Finley."

- Logan (3 1/2 years)

(This was after having an in-depth and very devastating conversation with him just two weeks earlier about how he can't marry his family members.  He obviously didn't remember, so maybe it was not as devastating as I'd thought.  Regardless, this time, I just decided to go with it and relish in the moment with a little smile in response.)

All I Want for Christmas New Year's Is My Two Front Teeth

Through the entire month of December we've all sworn every day that Finley's two front (top) teeth were going to poke through.  At her 9 month appointment in early December, the doctor said, "They'll be here any day now..." During the weeks leading to Christmas we all sung that infamous song to her knowing they'd be here on Christmas.  And on Christmas we all just knew they'd pop down.  But here we are, it's New Year's and we're still waiting...

...but I just know it will be any time now!

Don't Forget the Radishes...

Christmas Eve was an exciting one this year, as it was our first Christmas at our new house as well as Finley's first overall!

It was an honor to be able to have Jason's family join us for Christmas Eve dinner and celebrate the holiday.  And it was fun for everyone to see Logan's excitement as he prepared for Santa to come.

We spread reindeer food throughout the yard for Rudolph and friends...

...And of course left milk (chocolate!) and cookies for Santa.  But this year, Logan informed us that Santa is a radish lover and insisted we leave him (not his reindeer) a few radishes in addition to his cookies.  Who doesn't like radishes and cookies??

And then we quickly (at Logan's request, since he knows Santa doesn't come until he's asleep) read T'was the Night Before Christmas, before bed...

...anxiously awaiting, the dancing birthday cake.

Bubbles, Snow & Penguins

Every year the week before Christmas our family heads to Galena, Illinois to stay together as a big family at my Grandparents' home in Eagle Ridge, otherwise known as the Penguin House.  This year was Finley's first year and we were a little nervous about an 8 hour car ride with both kids, but they surprised us and were both amazing.

The kids had fun splashing in the big bathtub but we were all a little disappointed that there was no snow when we got there - we barely recognized the house with out any snow!  The night before our 'Christmas' Logan went to bed wishing for snow.  We tried to let him down easy that there probably wouldn't be any (only a 20% chance) but he stayed hopeful.

Lucky for him, the next morning we awoke to open presents with a nice dusting.  Enough to do a little sledding!

Logan had a great time sledding down hill and stomping around watching his tracks behind him.

All in all, it was a great weekend despite nearly half our party getting the stomach flu (Finley getting it on the drive home!).  We tried to make the best of it and as always enjoyed each other's company doing nothing but visiting, laughing and relaxing together as a family.
