Who's Who?

So, what do you think? If it weren't for the hat, could you actually tell which is Logan and which is Finley? The funny thing about the pic of Finley is that I did not intend what-so-ever to replicate the below pic of Logan. Ironic...

Family of Four

Last week, Jason went back to work and Logan went to Iowa to visit Granny Franny and Papa. So that left Finley and I alone to have some time to adjust to one another. I was hoping for a restful recovery sans the boys, but instead found myself cleaning, doing laundry, or laying wide eyed missing them like crazy. While it was great to spend some time getting to know Miss Finley one on one, it has been a great feeling to be back to a family of four this weekend.

Packing the Pounds Ounces

Bringing Finley home, she was just a tiny little peanut - 4 lb. 14 oz. As the days progressed at home, she wasn't gaining much and our trips to the doctor to have her weighed were becoming more and more often. On two occasions, she only gained 1 oz. -- how disappointing! Well, this week, she turned a corner surpassing her birth weight of 5 lb. 4 oz. and weighing in at 5 lb. 8 oz. I never thought I could be so excited over a few ounces!

So here are some new pics to share her new full figure :)

There are some new ♥love bugs♥ in our house. Finigan could not be more smitten with one another. Logan seems amazed by Finley's tiny features and enjoys gently touching her nose, feet and hands. He seems to love being a big brother so far and can't seem to get enough of Miss Finley. And Finley (when she's awake) gazes up at her big brother already trying to figure out what she can learn from him. So, while there have been a lot of changes for Logan lately, Finley seems to be a change he's welcoming very well.

Finley's First Bath

Finley had her first bath since being home and it was a success! We were a little nervous since Fin has still been struggling a bit with keeping her temperature up, but she did great. She just looked around the entire time and seemed to enjoy the short head massage when washing and combing her hair.

On a side note, the last photo of the post I swear is identical to a picture we have of Logan in his first weeks. I can't seem to find it right now, but will be sure to share when I do!

We're Home!

Well, we're home after our stay at the hospital. Discharge was smooth and quick and the best part is that Finley and I were discharged together; she didn't have to stay any longer!

Logan was thrilled for his girls to come home!

Little Finley ended up only being 4 pounds 14 ounces when we brought her home. She was so tiny putting her in her car seat for the first time.

We're still not quite sure how we accumulated so much stuff over our five day stay at the hospital!

On the drive home, Logan was pretty pumped that he got to have his sister riding in back with him. Since she is rear facing, he was also pretty excited that he could watch her during his ride.

As soon as we got home, he insisted on giving Finley a tour of the house, describing each room and its purpose throughout.

We're excited to be home and eager to get settled and back into our routine. We've got a fun week ahead of us since Jason is able to spend the week with us getting adjusted from a family of three to a family of four!

Quotes to Remember : 004

"Hey Dad, maybe we should take Finley to Wonderscope. I show her the ball room. She would like it."
-- Logan Dippel

Props to This Guy

To call him super dad really would be an understatement. This guy has been amazing. He doesn't get rest because we are new parents and have a toddler and newborn. He keeps up on the laundry and dishes. He offers support when I'm feeling the baby blues and doesn't make me feel like I'm crazy. He does our grocery shopping. This guy still finds time to change Finley's diapers and take Braisy and Logan on walks. He keeps the house picked up and makes sure Logan is keeping his hands washed around the baby. And with all that, this guy has still found a way to stay calm and untouched by the craziness we call life. Yep, he's pretty amazing. This guy is Jason, and I couldn't be luckier to call him my husband.

Only With Grandpa

How does Grandpa Ronnie do this? While Logan is a fantastic sleeper, I have to tell you that he would never do this with either Jason or does he do this!?!

Finley Jean Marie Dippel

Monday, March 7, 2011 at 8:08 PM Finley Jean Marie Dippel made her arrival. She weighed in at 5 pounds 4 ounces at birth. Her arrival came a little unexpectedly after getting some blood work returned, which wasn't favorable towards Finley's well being. The doctors assessed the situation and agreed it was best to take her via C-Section right away.

She came out less vocal than the nurses and doctors would have liked, but seems to be doing well now despite her low weight and low temperature. She has to stay in an isolette in NICU most of the time to stay warm but is able to come out for feedings, which is wonderful and we are thankful for!

Because of her stay in NICU she isn't able to have any visitors during her stay at the hospital other than Jason and I. We were lucky though and had a great nurse who was able to sneak Logan a quick peek so they could meet for the first time. He was excited but I think is starting to get the idea that she's really here and here to stay at that.

We haven't been able to get many pics since when she is out of NICU she comes to our room, eats and then has to leave shortly after. I'm thinking we'll have plenty of time to come together though to snap some shots :)

Finley has dark hair and brown eyes for now. I haven't been able to see much of her body yet because most of the time she's covered in two outfits and three blankets or more. When she is naked, we're skin to skin and covered with warm blankets which leaves little time to check her out!! Either way, she's gorgeous and we are so excited to announce that SHE'S HERE!
