He's a Bike Ridin' Fool

Logan has been having so much fun on his bike lately! If it's a nice day outside, he wants to ride his bike. If it's not a nice day, he still wants to ride his bike. If it's nap time, he wants to ride when he wakes up and if it's dinner, he wants to take a ride after he eats. You get the picture; Logan loves his new bike.

Most of the time he likes to go crusin but sometimes he's a bit of a slow poke toddler and likes to stop (a lot) for a variety of reasons.

Ya know, he needs to stop to pick some flowers for mom; check out ant hills in the sidewalk; check out the big pile of dirt on a construction site. He even has to stop to give a kiss to Finley.

Either way, slow poke or not -- he's a bike ridin' fool!

Quotes to Remember: 007

After making cookies and watching them bake in the oven, Logan asks,

"Why the cookies getting flat?"

Before I answer, he responds to himself and says,

"Maybe someone little is in the oven smashing them down!"

I did not respond and will allow him the privilege of believing someone little actually lives in our oven :)

All Grown Up

This past weekend my brother, Alex graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Fisheries and Wildlife Sciences from the School of Natural Resources. Just as I did, he cherished and enjoyed every moment of his college experience -- living it up, but not too much.

The weekend was just perfect (other than the freezing weather!). Our family enjoyed one another's company as we reminisced and were all baffled as to how this day had already come.

It's always been a running joke that I was Alex's real mother. Because of our age difference of seven years, I always acted as mother hen to him. Making sure everything was just right, and allowing our real mom to pick up my slack where I as sister may not have actually followed through.

It's hard to believe that he's all grown up now; ready to face the world on his own.

If it went this quickly for him, I'm guessing we shouldn't even blink because this will be Logan and Finley before we know it.

Logans Growing: 3 Years

At 3 years old Logan is amazing us every day! A list of what he can do at this point would be endless, so I'll just share a few things that I hope to remember in the future!

*Imaginative play is in full swing at this point. He is constantly telling us 'stories' and doing lots and lots of pretend play.
*He just got his 'big boy bike' and is working on getting the hang of the breaks. At this point he can go around the block fairly well and looks forward to this daily ride!
*Logan seems to thrive off of independent play. He needs the down time to himself and it seems when he doesn't get that time, can be a bit of a grouch - yikes!
*The ABC's have been one of his favorite songs for months now. Recognizing and reciting colors has also been a strong point for quite some time. The latest is his ability to spell his name without prompting as well as recognition of nearly every letter in the alphabet. The other day, we had a piece of mail that was addressed to me. He said, "Mom, that's your name." How did he know that?!? Wow.
*He is weighing in at 30 pounds and is 36 inches tall. He's still a little guy, but eats healthy and is very active!
*Logan has been potty trained since last July and is still doing well. He still wears a Pull-Up at nap and night time but has been waking up dry quite often lately. Hopefully, he'll get the hang of that soon!
*Logan's friend Moose Muffin Mouse is still around. He's not as active in our daily lives, but he lives on...

Finleys Growing: 2 Months

At 2 Months Finley is:

*Weighing in at 9 pounds 6.4 ounces (17%) and measuring 21 1/4 inches in length (14%)
*Sleeping fairly often for 7-8 hour stretches! Last week she even slept one night from 10PM-7AM!! Incredible...

*Cooing and giggling with us more and more often.
*Very happy in the morning and is full of lots of smiles!

*Eating between 4-5 ounces during each feeding
*Still amazing us with just how perfect she is!

The Party

Logan's birthday party was a hit! We could not have asked for a more beautiful day to be with friends and family at the park.

The theme this year was kites. Logan requested kite cupcakes as well as lemon cupcakes. No cake - cupcakes with kites on top. We gave the boy what he wanted, and I have to say they were pretty darn cute and absolutely delicious!

Logan was thrilled that everyone sang Happy Birthday to him and had this smile on his face the whole time!

It's not a birthday party with out Logan's birthday banner!

Friends Finley and Tucker were able to meet for the first time! They didn't do much playing but at least were able to meet one another. :)

We had to get out one of Logan's favorite gifts and play with it right away -- an awesome parachute!

Logan walked into the park like he owned it when we got there and didn't stop running around until we left!

Overall, it was a busy day but Logan seemed to have a great time. Thanks to everyone who was able to make it -- you are what made the party so special!!

The Big Three

Today, May 6, 2011 Logan is three!

We went to Deanna Rose (his choice!) where he was able to ride the ponies for the first time since you can't ride until you are three!

He spent lots of time loving on Finley because that's what big brothers are supposed to do. :)

And his favorite part of the day...

...he got a "big boy bike," which is all he wanted since he was turning three.

What a fun day for everyone!

Welcome to Fin Land

Last weekend Jason and I went to Fin Land. No, we didn't vacation to Finland, we went to the Jimmy Buffet concert at the Sprint Center which ironically was called Welcome to Fin Land. A little ironic, considering we've been living in Finley Land for the last several weeks!

Yes, we were able to go out on the town sans the children! It was a great time and the kids seemed to have a great time with the sitter -- we need to do that more often! :)

That Helicopter Park

With house showings and open houses, we haven't been staying at home much these days. While it's been a bit exhausting, it's been kind of nice to get out and about to do some of the fun things we've been wanting to do for a while.

We've gone to Story Time at Pottery Barn Kids, chilled at the Zoo (and I mean chilled -- it was really cold the day we went!), spent lots of time at the library, hit up Wonderscope a time or two and Logan's favorite when it's warm, playing at the park!

Since Winter kept us all inside most of the time, Logan kind of forgot about all the fun parks we have close by. One of his favorites lately is that Helicopter Park. I think he's partial to it because every time we go, he somehow convinces me and Finley to squeeze into that tiny helicopter as he "flies us around park." Too bad there isn't a picture of that, huh? :)
