Saying Goodbye

Tonight we said goodbye to our home. Jason and I walked around together to be sure we hadn't left anything behind. To say it was a bittersweet feeling couldn't be any more accurate.

The house is empty and everything in the garage will be moved tomorrow. We close on both houses so it will be a busy day full of bittersweet excitement.

The Last Days...

As the last days in our house approach us, we are all feeling overwhelmed with packing and unsure of what the coming months will bring us, not only physically but emotionally too. I of course have become sentimental since this was the home Jason and I came home to as Mr. and Mrs., the place we brought our babies to from the hospital, and not to mention all the little moments in life where we congregated with friends, met wonderful new neighbors, and learned to work as a team on house projects (as there were plenty to give us practice for the next house!).

With that being said, I'm feeling ready to move onward and upward to the next phase of our lives. Jason on the other hand swears he'll have to drag me out of here kicking and screaming :)

Logan really seems to get it. I mean, the concept of moving from the place we call home to a temporary house and then to a totally new house seems overwhelming to me, and I'm an adult. I can't quite grasp how such a little guy can comprehend the move quite so well. We talk about it a lot and I think that seems to have helped as opposed to keeping information from him to protect him.

Talk to me in a few weeks though as I'm a little worried that maybe he doesn't actually get that the move is permanent and we might have some melt downs. We'll see though; maybe he will pleasantly surprise me :)

And little Finley, what a trooper. She has blessed us all with her go with the flow personality as I've heard many second children do. She has been easily sleeping through the night for quite some time now which I couldn't be more grateful for!

How could I forget...Braisy. If you hadn't heard, he's still staying with my parents - temporarily. With the house being on the market, the move, the new baby, it was just too much for all of us. It's better for everyone, for now. But we miss him and can't wait to get him back once we're in the new house.

Those Pearly Whites

Recently, Logan went to the dentist for the first time. We had heard that most kids go back by themselves so I prepped him that he'd go back with the dentist and that they'd touch his mouth and clean his teeth. He didn't seem concerned what so ever and was almost excited. When we got there and the adorable assistant called his name, he took her hand and didn't look back.

After a short while, the assistant came back out to the waiting room and I thought to myself,

Dear Lord, please tell me he isn't kicking and screaming in the chair and they have to hold him down or something awful like that...

She kindly looked at me and said,

He's done, would you like to come back?

And so I did. We visited with the dentist, who is also a fellow Hawkeye. He said Logan did excellent, has no cavities and they shared a hug. But I have to say that I am anxiously wondering,

Why can't every trip to the dentist be this wonderful??

Lip Smacking Good

This week, Finley has discovered that she has hands. She can bat at things, just stare at them or even better, eat them. No matter if she is hungry or not this girl is smacking her gums and trying to fit her entire fist in her mouth. Just as happy as can be, she noisily smacks those gums and when we giggle at her, she looks up to us as if to say, "What? Me? I would never do anything so disgusting?!"

And she does still look totally adorable regardless of whether she's got her entire fist in her mouth or not. I'm just wondering at what point she'll discover that she can just suck her thumb as opposed to her entire hand?

We have a contract pending on our current house and it appears that we are SOLD! Boxes are being packed and furniture is loaded into storage. We are scheduled to close Monday, June 27 and it's a bittersweet feeling to be quite honest. It's absolutely thrilling to think of all the fun decisions that we have to make on the remodel in the coming months, but also a bit sad leaving the house we are in with so many wonderful memories.

Because of the condition of our new home and the amount of rehab work we have to put into the place, we are staying in temporary housing (thanks to a fabulous friend!!) for a couple months off the Plaza! While it won't be home, it's a fun time of the year to be able to walk around and enjoy what the city has to offer at it's finest! In addition to the Plaza we'll be just a block or two away from a fantastic park. Logan knows we are moving and we try to talk about it as often as possible so he knows what to expect in the coming weeks. It's a lot of change for all of us, but he is honestly doing much better so far than we thought, which makes things much easier. We'll be sure to keep everyone updated along the way of our wild and crazy journey we call LIFE :)

Finley's 1/4 Year Birthday

This week Finley had her 3 month 1/4 year birthday. Can you believe she is already three months old? It's funny because one minute I can't believe time has passed so quickly and the next it's nearly impossible to remember life without her. While it's going way too fast, we are trying our best to appreciate, cherish and embrace every little thing she has to offer...

A Cool Down...

After a little picnic at Loose Park with Aunt Dana and Granny Franny, it was time for a cool down at the spray park. What an awesome way to cool off on a hot, hot, hot day!
